Portrait photography or portraiture is photography of a person or group of people that captures the personality of a subject by using effective lighting, backdrops, and poses.
This class starts with a 30 minute classroom session to teach you about your camera and the ideal settings. During the Practical Session, we will setup a wide variety of photography situations to illustrate how to read light, pose the models and come away with quality images you can be proud of.
This session has been customized toward beginners and is perfect for those who are looking to improve their portrait photos of children, family, pets etc.

Framing is the most important aspect in photography. We have to focus on what we want the other person to see rather than what he / she is actually seeing.
Light means what is the source of the light, and how it will affect the photography.
Best possible shots for daylight is dawn or twilight for outdoor photography.
For indoor photography, place the subject 3-4 inches near window to get a balanced light effect on the subject.
ISO should be kept as low as possible to avoid grains. For daylight, ISO should be 100.
For any confusions, keep the ISO at Auto unless you are absolutely sanguine about lighting and metering.
Make the very most of natural light to enhance your subject and understand how subtle changes can dramatically improve your portraits.
All individuals have a distinct angle from where if they are clicked, pictures will be excellent. All the angles do not have that effect. We have to sit with the subject and study from which angle the subject looks most photogenic.
To shoot candid and natural photographs, talk to the subject before the shoot and make her/ him comfortable with you. This will ease out the camera consciousness of the model, and help in producing natural and candid shots.
Sometimes breaking of the Rule of third also produces good results. Rule of the third is an ideal for photography, but as the saying goes, “rules are made to be broke”, some photographs look good and more real even if they are not adhering to the Rule. While framing/ cropping in the subsequent level, we can develop on this aspect.
Selection of the colour of the background of the subject is most important. The subject will look brighter, or the effect will be better based on the colour of the back ground. For this, colour selection is also an important aspect. Photograph your subjects in their favourite environment to enhance your portraits.
