Muruga, the incarnation of pure consciousness, Controller of Mars, and Master Yogi, was created by Shiva from the sparks of his third eye. According to Skanda Purana, Goddess Parvati blessed the Krittikas (six maidens representing the six stars of the Pleiades constellation) for their selfless service of nurturing the six babies born with immortality and a boon that Special Poojas will be held to honor Muruga on every Krithigai star day.
The Krittika star or Nakshatra is considered highly auspicious to worship Muruga. Aadi Krithigai is more important because Aadi is the first month in the Dakshinayana Punyakalam- when the Sun God changes his direction from north to south.
According to another legend, Muruga slew the demon Surapadman on Aadi Krithigai. Hence, it signifies the day of victory of good over evil, and propitiating Muruga with special Aadi Krithigai Poojas when his Divine grace is easily accessible, can help answer prayers and fulfill all your wishes.
