Description: Adapted from the legendary Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay’s short story “Kinnordol”, Alo is a beautifully crafted tale of a young, urban woman finding new meanings and dimensions of life in a rural setting. Director Tarun Majumdar masterfully depicts a range of conflicts which the protagonist goes through and her resolve to overcome them.
The film was a critical and commercial success with Rituparna Sengupta’s outstanding performance being praised by one and all. It broke several box office records and went on to be nominated for the National Awards. The film is also remembered for its tasteful use of Tagore’s songs to accentuate and further the narrative.
