About The Event1

The I-League, officially known as the Hero I-League due to sponsorship reasons, is an Indian professional league for men’s association football clubs.

 

At the top of the Indian Football League system, it is one of the two premier football leagues in the country. Contested by 10 clubs, its operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the I-League second division as well as a system of direct entry.

 

The Hero I-League, now in its 11th edition, reaches Ludhiana with the home team Minerva Punjab FC all set to host Kolkata Giants Mohun Bagan in the tournament opener on 25th November 2017 at 2 PM at the Guru Nanak Stadium. They would then be going on to host Neroca FC on 1st Dec followed by Chennai City FC on the 11th of Dec and the AIFF team of Indian Arrows on 18th Dec.

 

Minerva Punjab FC is a young team that has shown tremendous potential and resilience. The team from Punjab represents the energy, tenacity and never-say-die spirit of northern India. With new signings such as Japanese midfielder Toshiya Hosoe and Bhutanese striker Chencho Gyeltshen, the team looks set to achieve a miracle and would be looking for all the support they can get from the people of Ludhiana to help them through this journey!
