POS Membership 2024-25

Dear Colleague,

Thanks for your interest in becoming a life member of the Poona Ophthalmological Society (POS Life Membership 2024-25)

Please go through the following information before you proceed.

There are three types of membership categories for Poona Ophthalmological Society as below. Find out which category you belong to and register under the appropriate ticket accordingly. Please note that your POS Membership will be ratified in the AGM in due course.

1. Regular Life Member: Medical Practioner holding Allopathic (modern Medicine) qualification recognized under Schedule 1 & 3 of Indian Medical Council Act 1965 (and Indian Medical Degrees Act 7 of 1916) and also holding additional qualification duly recognised by the National Medical Commission (previously MCI), the Maharashtra Medical Council in the sciences and art of Ophthalmology and Indian Medical Registry for Modern Medicine (That is basic qualification needs to be MBBS).

2. Associate Life Member: Any member of medical profession, holding Allopathic (Modern Medicine) qualification (MBBS) recognized under Schedule 1 & 3 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 [and Indian Medical Degrees Act 1916 (Act 7 of 1916)] and also holding additional qualification duly recognized by the National Medical Council in the sciences and art of Ophthalmology and Indian Medical Registry for Modern Medicine that is basic qualification is MBBS, and interested in Ophthalmology can become an Assoiciate Member. Eligible Ophthalmologist domiciled outside Pune district can apply for the Associate Life Membership of POS.

3. Student Member : Students pursuing post-graduation in Ophthalmology (Modern Medicine, Allopathy-MBBS) who wish to join the society can do so. This membership can be subsequently converted to life membership on application to the society.

Fees Structure: Rs. 3000 (plus approx 4.75% Payment gateway charges). The fee is same for all the three categories.

Procedure: 

1. Download POS Life Membership Form HERE.
2. Print and fill-in the downloaded membership form at the above link if not already done. Do not forget to put the date and attach your ID photo. Take signatures of an existing life member of POS under PROPOSED BY & SECONDED BY.
3. Keep the soft copies (only in JPEG format size less than 2MB) of the following documents ready as you will need to upload them: A. MBBS certificate, B. Post Graduation Certificate, C. MMC/MCI registration certificate. and D. PG Student status certificate from the HOD.
4. Proceed for the payment of membership fees INR 3000/-.It is recommended that you complete the entire online payment procedure when you have good internet connectivity preferably from a PC with wifi. Poor internet connection can result in a failed transaction where you may get a debit message from your bank but the transaction does not get through.  If you have not received a receipt from the Meraevents platform, most likely your transaction has been incomplete. Contact at the given numbers before you make the repayment. In all cases of incomplete transactions you would automatically get a return credit from your bank in 2-3 days. Do check your bank statement before raising a query.
5. After your payment is complete, send an email to Hon. Secretary (2024-25) Dr. Ashwini Misal, on the following email secpospune@gmail.com. Do not forget to attach all the documents that you uploaded during registration payment.
6. Please courier all your documents (duly filled membership form with photocopies of all documents) to the POS Secretariat: Dr. Ashwini Misal. Address: Prakash Netralaya, Mont Vert arcade, Balaji chowk, Sus road, Pashan, Pune 411021. Ph: 020-25871823. 
7. To expedite the process, After you send the email to secpospune@gmail.com with all the documents, you may call and inform her so that she can check and confirm the receipt of the same.
