The month of Purattasi is one of the most auspicious periods of the Vedic calendar. This month is considered ideal for thanking Lord Perumal or Balaji for preserving the Universe during Kali Yuga. It is believed that the Lord appeared on earth in this month. The Saturdays of Purattasi month are considered sacrosanct. Devotees observe strict Vrat and offer special prayers and rituals for Lord Vishnu on all Saturdays of Purattasi month.
